1.    Base Material:    Dimensional Metals, Inc. purchases prime commercial grade metal coil directly from mills and service centers that is tension leveled and meets or exceeds all industry accepted ASTM standards.

- Galvanized steel: 24 ga. and 22 ga. hot dipped AISI G-90 Galvanized steel meeting ASTM A 653.
- Galvalume®: 24 ga. and 22 ga. aluminum-zinc alloy coated (55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicone;nominal percentage per weight) carbon steel meeting ASTM A 792.
- Aluminum: .032", .040", .050" aluminum of 3003-H14 alloy meeting ASTM B 209.
- Copper: 16 oz. or 20 oz. cold rolled copper meeting ASTM B 370.
- Anodized Aluminum: .032 aluminum of 5005-H34 Alloy AQ quality meeting ASTM B 209 & AAMA 611.

2.    Painted Finishes:   Steel coil and flat sheet are available in 24 standard colors, primed and finished on one side with a 70% full strength Kynar 500® or Hylar 5000® proprietary resin based fluorocarbon coating of 1.1 ± .01 mil total dry film thickness and on the reverse side a wash coat and primer of .04 ± .01 mil total dry film thickness.  Refer to our DynaClad™ specification data sheet for additional technical information.

3.    Product Applications:   Each of our products have unique features which determine proper use and application.  We request that you review your specific needs and product application with DMI prior to selecting a system and detailing its installation.  Projects located in regions where severe snow and ice is a factor require special attention to detailing and product handling.  Avoid installing product on roof areas that may trap water, snow and ice, and be sure to provide adequate roof slope to aid in water drainage.  Consult a local architect / engineer to review special project requirements.

4.    Panel Lengths:   Dimensional Metals, Inc. can rollform panels in continuous lengths. Panel length availability varies by profile. Continuous lengths up to 90’-0” are available. Lengths over 53’-0” require additional crating fees and special hauling permits. On-site production is available when necessary. When dealing with long panel lengths, special considerations must be planned into the project to deal with thermal expansion and contraction, aesthetics and handling.

5.    Flashing and Trim:   Prefabricated flashings are available from Dimensional Metals, Inc.  Flashing and trim are produced in standard 10'-0" lengths from DynaClad™ architectural sheet metal (flat sheet).  Flashing and trim may be produced in lengths up to 20 feet in length; consult DMI for costs and lead times.  DynaClad™ flat sheet is available for fabrication by others and may be purchased from your local distributor or directly from DMI.

6.    Embossing:   Embossing is a process of rolling a texture into the sheet metal which is often a desired aesthetic effect.  Sheet metal that is embossed reflects light in different directions which reduces the gloss of the sheet.   Most of DMI's products are available with an embossed texture with a slight increase in cost and lead time.  Embossing can, however, affect prefinished paint warranties; consult DMI for additional information.

7.   Strippable Film:   Dimensional Metals, Inc. provides a 3" wide strippable film on our rollformed panels at the vertical webs (standing seam legs) to protect the finish during shipping.  A complete strippable film covering is available on rollformed panels upon request.  All DynaClad™ flat sheet has a complete covering of strippable film.  Products with strippable film must not be stored in direct sunlight.  It is necessary to remove the strippable film just before installation.

8.    Stiffeners:  Dimensional Metals, Inc. offers a variety of stiffener rib patterns for each of our rollformed panels.  See the product offerings for the pattern(s) available.  Stiffener patterns provide some relief in the stresses incurred with horizontal expansion and contraction in the panel which is a major contributor to "oil canning".

9.    Fasteners:   Dimensional Metals, Inc. stocks a selection of standard fasteners which meet most installation requirements.  All fasteners are zinc or aluminum coated to provide excellent corrosion resistance.  Pop rivets have stainless steel heads and shanks and are prefinished to match the contiguous sheet metal.  When driving the fasteners during installation care must be taken to prevent overdriving or vertical misalignment which can cause damage to sheet metal products.

10.   Sealant:   Sealant application locations are shown on Dimensional Metals, Inc. standard details and on project shop drawings.  We recommend using a high quality silicone or a one part urethane sealant with our products.  When sealing between sheet metal and adjacent building material, refer to sealant manufacturer's recommendations in selecting the proper sealant for the specific application.

11.    Storage:   Store materials out of the weather, in a clean, dry place.  Elevate one end of each crate slightly to allow for moisture run-off.   Store materials in a manner that provides ventilation and prevents bending, twisting, or abrasion.

12.    Oil Canning:   Dimensional Metals, Inc. purchases prime commercial grade light gauge metal which is manufactured to all industry accepted tolerances.  It is accepted that these tolerances allow minor waviness commonly known as "oil canning".  All panels rollformed from similar light gauge metal may exhibit this waviness in the broad flat portion of the panel.  Oil canning is a characteristic, not defect, of panels manufactured from light gauge metal, and it is not cause for rejection.

13.    Loading Tables:   Maximum allowable loading and wind uplift data has been calculated in accordance with the latest edition of AISI "Specification for the Design of Cold Formed Steel Structural Members".

14.    UL-90 Classification:   Refer to Underwriters Laboratories Roofing Systems and Materials Directory for complete classification.
